Der dreigeschossige Fachwerkbau mit waagerechter Querverbretterung wurde wohl errichtet in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jhdt. Interessanterweise gab es hier und in den Vorgängerbauten von (erwähnt) 1552 bis 1956 eine Bäckerei. U. a. handelte es sich hier im 17. und 18. Jhdt. um einen Weißbäcker, wobei man unter „Weißbäckerei“ Backwaren verstand, die im Gegensatz zum dunklen Roggenbrot aus gesiebtem, hellen Weizenmehl gebacken waren („Semmeln“ und „Kringel“). Bedeutend ist hierbei der Umstand, dass diese Bäckerei im Dreieck lag zwischen Rathaus mit Ratskeller, Johannistor (in den bzw. aus dem Harz führend) sowie in unmittelbarer Nähe zur sog. Mittelmühle (Getreidemühle) ein Stück hinter dem Haus. Das Rathaus spielt insofern eine Rolle, da hier nach schriftlicher Überlieferung 1556 der Bäcker Blasius Otten zur üblichen Feierstunde nach dem jährlichen Wechsel der Ratsherren (jeweils 6. Januar) den Kuchen lieferte.
1897 wurde unter Bäcker Friedrich Hourand das Schaufenster vergrößert. 1910 zeigte das Anwesen ein Wohn- und Reihehaus, Kuhstall, Scheune, Holz- und Schweinestall. Das Dachgeschoss unter dem ziegelgedeckten Satteldach wurde 1973 ausgebaut.
1982 zog hier das Herrenbekleidungsgeschäft Wedemeyer ein. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt hat man im Erdgeschoss eine Art Windfang eingebaut. Dadurch wurde die Schaufensterfläche vergrößert. Eröffnungstag war der 5. August 1982.
