Christa Schmets – Glaskunst und Acrylmalerei
1948 geboren, habe ich 1982 meine Begeisterung für Glas entdeckt. Diese „Liebe“ zum Material Glas hat mich bis heute nicht losgelassen. Anfangs habe ich Verglasungen in der Tiffany-Kupferfolientechnik hergestellt. Durch Workshops und Sommerakademien bei Glaskünstlern habe ich weitere Techniken erlernt. Heute fertige ich meine Exponate überwiegend im Fusing- und Glasgussverfahren, sowie als Glas-Mix-Media-Objekte.
In meinen Arbeiten kombiniere ich Werkstoffe wie Metall, Holz, Steine und andere Naturmaterialien mit Glas. Sie spiegeln Erfahrungen, Erlebnisse und Beobachtungen wider oder erzählen Geschichten. So befinde ich mich in einem fortwährenden Lern- und Entwicklungsprozess.
In den vergangenen Jahren habe ich an nationalen und internationalen Wettbewerbsausstellungen teilgenommen. Mit unterschiedlichen Partnern habe ich Gemeinschafts- und Einzelausstellungen zu verschiedenen Themen durchgeführt.
