Die Stra\u00dfen Obere und Untere Neustadt bildeten das 1238 gegr\u00fcndete eigene Stadtviertel, das am Neust\u00e4dter Tor endete. Die ersten Bewohner lebten hier\u00a0 <\/span>sp\u00e4testens seit dem 13. Jh. <\/span><\/p>\n

Bei <\/span>Grabungen<\/span> 1983 hat man auf dem Grundst\u00fcck <\/span>Tonscherben<\/span> gefunden, z. B. <\/span>Fehlbrand<\/span> aus dem <\/span>13. Jh<\/span>. Dies spricht daf\u00fcr, dass sich hier seinerzeit eine <\/span>T\u00f6pferei<\/span> befunden hat. Gleichzeitig gab es Spuren einer sog. <\/span>Kloake<\/span> sowie einer <\/span>Miste<\/span> an einer anderen Hofstelle, was <\/span>Tierhaltung<\/span> andeutet. Beide letzten Funde m\u00f6gen aber seinerzeit auch zu einem Nachbargrundst\u00fcck geh\u00f6rt haben. <\/span><\/p>\n

Im <\/span>17. Jh.<\/span> befand sich hier wohl ein <\/span>Krug<\/span>. Der Vorg\u00e4ngerbau des jetzigen Geb\u00e4udes brannte <\/span>1826<\/span> ab und wurde auch 1826 wiederaufgebaut. Um 1888 befand sich im Geb\u00e4ude der Verein \u201eHerberge zur Heimat e. V.\u201c Au\u00dferdem gab es hier u. a. einen Zigarrenfabrikanten, die Allgemeine Ortskrankenkasse f\u00fcr Osterode und Freiheit bzw. des Kreises Osterode. Zudem noch eine <\/span>Brauerei<\/span> sowie eine <\/span>Druckerei<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Das Fachwerkhaus zeigt einen <\/span>Segmentbogen<\/span> \u00fcber einem <\/span>Windfang<\/span>. Die breite <\/span>Fl\u00fcgelt\u00fcr<\/span> besitzt kein typisches, eher schmales Oberlicht, sondern tr\u00e4gt zu etwa 2\/3 l\u00e4ngs-rechteckige <\/span>Einzelglasscheiben<\/span> und im unteren Bereich der Holzt\u00fcr quer liegende Rechtecke als <\/span>T\u00fcrschmuck<\/span>. Das <\/span>Obergeschoss<\/span> zeigt einen <\/span>Beschlag<\/span> sowie eine <\/span>geschwungene<\/span> Dachform.<\/span><\/p>\n
